i pay my friends and have agreements for them to appear at my shows. say... up to $800 to get them hotel stays and pay for their gas and other compensations. not to brag about money but rather the extent I take to recognize favors apart from the business aspect.
i think it's only fair that in the past, since other organizations have helped my dance team and i by sponsoring, booking us, and paying for the appropriate fees that i keep this consistent with all types of organizations. I also believe that yes, as a part of a branch off another organization, we should show respect to them as, let's say..., elders as well as our past influences.... however, if it is agreed that times have changed and that bodies of government and political views have changed. I personally believe that the order of how things are approached should also change based on the given circumstances.
playing fair. playing business and being consistent with our promises.
i'm so glad to say that VSA has been supportive of my team and I for the past three - four years with their sponsoring of our attendance at their events and participating in our banquets and such. many of my friends are in there and business has been great seeing that there's a mutual agreement as well as a share of paperwork.
it's the consistency in our behavior and the professionalism that's exchanged between not only the officers but our campus advisors that has gotten us our name on campus.
quite frankly, i think there's a lot to say and do if anyone wants to break what I've seen and even done as far as paperwork and consistency with business at the University for my team.
you can't break Rhythm Inc. i'm sorry
the last time someone tried to say that i hated the funkbrella got me and one of the other directors of the Rhythm Inc. team talking directly to the directors of funkanometry and their founders... just to throw that out there as one of the examples.
i don't see why things have to be competitive anyway. i understand the recognition for talent but i don't see why people gotta fight for talent to be on their team. i don't think there's been a team out there who i haven't talked to about even collaborating with Rhythm Inc. if they are serious about trying to get up there. And when I say collaborating, I mean that we host workshops together, put on events and have those teams perform there, etc. etc.
and then i turn around and hear that people are saying this and that... which will always happen and i know that, for damn sure, but it's disappointing EVERY time when i hear it coming from a DIRECTOR's mouth that they hate on a team for trying to recruit people that THEY want... it makes no sense to me. i'm so proud of those on my team who have gone off and joined other teams as well as those who were on other teams and decided to join Rhythm Inc. :) it's amazing to hear the stories and I wish that others can understand this rather than spending their time saying things about us before realizing how much fun we have together.
i'm all down for collaborating and showing the community how, together, we can showcase our similar talents. i've already dealt with mistakes in the past with those who think they can just use me as a friend to do things for them. most of the time i'd try to help especially if it's the first time i've help with the organization. any other time, it's real serious business.
thanks mookie, devon, and rickie from SICKSTEP for letting me teach their dance classes this summer and mookie for last summer! great experience and the pay was NOT bad at all even though i receive less than your avg paychecks lol these guys are seriously making a lot for what they do and i can't NOT respect that =)
thanks to the supporting organizations for letting us work with them in the past and continuing to support us in our endeavors. the love is intense and the university has even awarded us in 2008 for our community service contributions... which i am really proud of =) having one out of many amongst other organizations on campus who, i'm sure, has also received this award was an honor, and i think it means a lot to have for a group who consists of mainly high schoolers and now more pacific students =)
i'm a person with pride and yes I can be stubborn but the love i have for the team is exponential compared to how much i can say about them in any blog or post, any day!
so yeah... serious business to those who don't like the team or anyone in it... if it's a personal practice, each team member knows to leave their drama at the door once they come to our practices, we suggest our supporters and business associates to do the same. it's all love and focus on our goal to dance and perform and help each other... so... do us a favor and keep your opinions to yourself before the whole team gets on your case about trying to break us all apart. realize that each person had to audition to get in so they are serious about this. we're not just any other club, and our involvement with the team is more than just "membership" to those who still wishes to be on the team. don't come with us with an attitude and issue with any ONE of us on the team because in the end, THAT'S YOUR PROBLEM.
real love.
