everytime i come home, there's always some ppl who ask me bout Pacific/Stockton and I really have nothing but good stuff to say because of all the people who i've met and have became friends with.
it just got me to start thinking of the people who would bash and say awful things about the city that they live in but at the same time add to the drama. it doesn't make sense to me that people would lower the reputation about their
city but does nothing to make it better or they would choose to add to the drama of it all and CHOOSE to be depressed or just drink themselves crazy all the time.
just recently i saw someone who's not from stockton say "fuck stockton" on their tweet and i really just thought to myself that there's really just an easy solution to that. in general, if people don't like where they are in life, all they have to do is 1. either just deal with it or 2. leave and go to a better place making sure they didn't leave anything negative behind. I really hope that when i do leave Stockton that I'm leaving behind good memories and a good part of myself then leave with that reputation that i hated everything and everyone in it just to remind future visitors that the city isn't worth going to. that's horrible...
what's funny is that when i hear pacific students say that they hate the city, then i just really want to suggest that they choose a better school and it's really not too late to drop out and really do their research better to go to a school in a better city. you're 18 now and on your own, figure it out. if you really want the degree and stay in this school then suck your shit up and focus on school and not the city drama. if you hate the city then stay in your room and see if the rest of the world cares that you're being miserable. it's harsh but it's better than hearing you complain knowing that all you can do or have to do is move out if you're really that miserable. people have to live their life and it's not their duty to make sure that you're happy trying to adapt when they're also trying to adapt or even HAVE adapted to the living style.
yeah, nothing but good things to say about the people of stockton. i've met many parents and have gotten to know the workers and those who just wander the town. yeah i've met more than enough people who have ticked me off but i can say the same thing about my town. what town DOESN'T have violence and corruption? what mall DOESN'T have shady people and annoying teenagers who just gossip about what that girl said or how "their parents suck?" just because people don't have anything else better to do, they choose to just compare what they're comfortable with and what they're not used to. it's just better to criticize, and i should know, since i think i'm one of the most critical and judgmental people out there--but i would think that i'm also one of the more open minded people and just make friends with locals and be friends with them to be on their side rather than against them.
in my eyes, if you love your city so much, why did you leave in the first place JUST to criticize another town--or even in another light, someone else's home. people can very easily go to your town and criticize how YOU live and how YOUR culture sucks but just because people can or have done it doesn't mean you should step into anybody else's house and judge how they live.
that's fucked up so i think that if you're really going to hate where you live. really make that effort and do the rest of us a favor and leave OUR home[town] because you're just adding to the negativity. i chose to live in stockton and i don't regret it at all.
