Breakroom Soap Box

If anything at all, I think that in any business setting, even if you're not in Sales, you should have the common knowledge to sell YOURSELF--let it be your image, your achievements, or your capabilities.

I find it a little depressing that when being evaluated at work, others are able to sell themselves short of what they're able to do. You don't have to love the company that you're working for but at least show some pride and integrity in what you're able to do. You're not obligated to work or do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable -- keep in mind, the managers and company itself isn't obligated to pay you if you choose not to perform to meet their standard expectations.

What I enjoy about my work is that there are still more and more people who I would like to speak to in order to fully understand the full capabilities of the company. Ultimately I want to move up into management and I feel like that needs to be a lot of others' goals. Once I feel like I am on a forever going pattern with my assignments at work, I can see myself getting replaced even if I realize that I am doing a lot.

I'm curious as to what other industry this type of vision and goals can be applied to. I take pride in what I'm able to do based on my curiosity to learn but also for my business sense to demand more money for what i'm able to contribute.

"you really take an aggressive approach but I can say that the company is at a lost if you choose not to continue working with us" -- my HR lady about a week and a half ago.

thinking about having a separate blogs for my business/work rants--not sure how this will work itself out since i'm also doing smaller jobs on the side with other different industries.
