i feel like it's always to better blog the deeper thoughts and frustrations if needed than to so easily update a status anywhere, especially on twitter or facebook. at least with a blog, i know that people are finding their way to see how i am or what i'm up to. i feel like when i do update my facebook or twitter that i'm somewhat forcing that on people who kinda have to see my update anyway and in fact, i would rather really have people choose to read my blog rather than knowing that i have somewhat of a moral obligation to make sure people who are following me aren't going to change their lives for the worst from my updates.
i was just talking to my boyfriend about how if I knew that there were 200 people following me on twitter and even more on facebook, come to think of it, i would rather say something to make them laugh or something that could be useful to them over updating something that would make them feel uncomfortable or feeling like they hate the world and everything of it throughout their day, or even their week. i'll admit when i DON'T say anything useful or interesting on twitter/facebook, i feel like i'm spamming my followers with nonsense updates that they don't care for--and I do apologize.
but i hope people are getting what i'm saying. I know that people who use the social online networks understand and have friends who are completely uninvolved with the online communities and they're living fine. I remember talking to one friend about how he doesn't update his facebook as often and he said that he didn't think anyone would follow him or care enough to see his updates. I think I remembered that I felt the same way when I first started using twitter and as soon as I started getting followers, i knew for a fact that i had to use my status updates somehow to get the word across for anything that i believed in or just anything that i noticed around me and that it's something where i would like a second opinion :)
when i'm with my friends and we're all alone, all jokes' are fair game but online... it's more than just a living room with a handful of friends. what's funny for a small group of friends isn't funny to the many who are following you cuz obviously what you're saying at a party is totally not how others are going to read it online, so please... please think about what you say before you act.
i hate how i've been hearing stories left and right about how so and so choreographers are such "dicks" and "stuck up" cuz of the things they say and how they act around dancers or what they say online... let's stop that trend now before nothing gets done.
